Don't turn around...uh oh...
Der Kommissar's in town...uh oh...
Tamara's post about tv show tunes got me started thinking about those pesky pop songs that get inextricably wedged in the front of your mind...songs like "The Hustle" or "Close To You" or "Rock and Roll part 2."
Right now, the dagger in my mind has been...Der Kommissar...
What's that tune you can't seem to shake, no matter how much you drink?

A couple summers ago I was strolling with my kids and, as I was asking them to stay close to me as we walked down a busy street, I broke into "Close to You." My kids are used to me making up silly songs on the spot and they assumed that this was one of them. I told them no, this was an actual song that was recorded and was, once, very popular.
My daughter, Emma, thinks the line about birds suddenly appearing is just creepy.

When Little Pirate was at the "why" stage, I used to sing him the "birds"line from "Close to You."
(LP & purple in grocery store)
LP: Why are they called groceries?...Why is it called maccoroni?..Why do I have to sit in the cart"
PURPLE:(sings) "Why do birds suddenly appear, everytime you are near?"
People would laugh, LP would stop asking why.
Now the friggen song is again in my head.
Thanks, Ironic1.

"Meomena" (the old muppet song). Once it's in, only shock treatments will remove it. Awful, awful, awful.

Whether or not it's actually true, "Menomena" was supposedly... orginally a song in a Swedish porno movie. Read all too much at http://www.geocities.com/pieroumiliani/
Hmmmmmm.
